This session was so much fun! I met with Nelly and her mom, Marsha, at the lake in Westlake, California. We walked around the lake and Nelly showed off all her personality. Nelly loves to play ball, take peoples hats, and help with household chores like taking laundry from the dryer. Where she puts it might not be the ideal place but she thinks it's helpful! This precious goldador a truly a comedian and knows how to ham it up.
Before coming to join Marsha and her husband, Jeff, Nelly was a guide dog in training at Guide Dogs of America. Not all dogs make it through the program for a variety of reasons including being overly friendly, having allergies, hip or elbow dysplasia or other medical reasons. That was the case for Nelly so she is considered a career change dog.
Since Nelly has joined her new family they have continued her training, taken trips to different places with their dogs friends and loves doing all the things she couldn't do while she was in training like sitting on the couch and sleeping in the bed.
